Pokebay is committed to making our platform accessible to everyone. This statement sets out our current accessibility status and our commitments under the Equality Act 2010 and WCAG 2.1.
Our Commitment
We want every collector — regardless of disability or impairment — to be able to buy and sell on Pokebay without barriers. We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Pokebay is designed with accessibility in mind from the start — not bolted on afterwards. We use semantic HTML, ARIA roles, keyboard-navigable components, and sufficient colour contrast throughout the platform.
Conformance Status
Pokebay is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to resolve known gaps.
Sufficient colour contrast (WCAG AA 4.5:1)✓ Compliant
Alt text for meaningful images✓ Compliant
Focus indicators on interactive elements✓ Compliant
Form labels and error messages✓ Compliant
Responsive layout (200% zoom)✓ Compliant
No content flashing >3 times per second✓ Compliant

Captions for video content– N/A
prefers-reduced-motion support✓ Compliant
Known Accessibility Issues
We are aware of the following issues and are working to resolve them:
–Skip navigation link: A visible "skip to main content" link is present in the DOM but is not visible on focus in all browsers. Fix planned for next release.
–ARIA landmarks: Some secondary pages are missing explicit landmark roles (e.g. main, nav). We are auditing all pages.
–Card scanner: The AI card scanner component relies on visual output. Alternative text descriptions of scan results will be added in a future update.
Technical Approach
Technologies We Rely On
–HTML5 semantic elements (header, nav, main, footer, article, section)
–ARIA roles, labels, and live regions where native semantics are insufficient
–CSS and JavaScript — we do not rely solely on CSS for functional interactions
–SVG icons with appropriate aria-hidden or aria-label attributes
Assistive Technology Testing
We test with the following assistive technologies:
–NVDA with Firefox (Windows)
–VoiceOver with Safari (macOS and iOS)
–TalkBack with Chrome (Android)
–Keyboard-only navigation (all browsers)
Reasonable Adjustments
If you experience any accessibility barriers on Pokebay, we want to know. We will do our best to provide the information or complete the transaction for you in an alternative way while we work on a permanent fix.
This is in line with our obligations under the Equality Act 2010, which requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments to remove barriers for disabled people.
